On the afternoon of January 24, Professor Lin Sanbao and Researcher Professor Dong Bolun from the National Key Laboratory of Precision Welding and Joining of Materials and Structures at Harbin Institute of Technology visited ChuanSite Software for in-depth discussions on cooperation in multi-layer welding and intelligent programming technologies. Manager Ye Huahua, responsible for product R&D at ChuanSite Software, presented the HedraCAM software's secondary development platform and the latest AI-powered research achievements in the V4 version to Professor Lin's delegation. Professor Lin and his team highly praised HedraCAM's advanced features and ChuanSite Software's technical capabilities. Both parties reached an agreement on further cooperation for related projects. Subsequently, Professor Lin toured the experimental platform at the Equipment Center of the Nanjing Advanced Laser Technology Institute, where ChuanSite Software is based. ChuanSite Software has leveraged this experimental platform since its early days — all HedraCAM features were validated through actual machining and accumulated progressively. Professor Lin greatly admired this pragmatic, steadfast approach to R&D, and encouraged ChuanSite Software to maintain this spirit and carry forward China's domestic core industrial software. About the National Key Laboratory of Precision Welding and Joining of Materials and Structures at Harbin Institute of Technology: The laboratory originated from the Welding Technology and Engineering program at Harbin Institute of Technology, which was the first undergraduate welding program established at a Chinese university. It is renowned as the “Cradle of Welding in China and the Whampoa Military Academy of the Welding Industry.” Established on the foundation of the first-level discipline of Materials Science and Engineering, the laboratory upholds the university motto of “Strict Standards, Thorough Skills” and the laboratory’s philosophy of “Advocating Innovation, Promoting Pragmatism.” The laboratory trains over 200 master’s students and more than 50 doctoral students annually, ranking among the top in talent cultivation nationwide among comparable institutions. It has produced nearly 10,000 graduates in total, nurturing a large number of innovative, high-caliber professionals in the welding field, including academicians, recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, national high-level talents, chairpersons of the Welding Society, and winners of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Award and the China Youth Science and Technology Award. It has also supplied over 200 chief engineers to enterprises. The laboratory has become a talent hub and research hall of excellence in the field of welding. The laboratory has consistently pursued research aligned with national strategic needs and scientific frontiers, conducting fundamental, forward-looking, strategic, and systematic innovation. It has played a significant role in national defense sectors including aerospace, aviation, naval engineering, and nuclear power, as well as in national economic development. In line with trends in materials science and engineering and the laboratory’s distinctive strengths, it has established four interdisciplinary research directions with unique characteristics: new materials and dissimilar materials joining; high-efficiency intelligent welding and welding in extreme environments; joining of complex structures and reliability; and micro/nano joining and processing. Over the years, the laboratory has focused on major scientific challenges and core technologies in precision welding and joining of material structures, solving several critical bottlenecks constraining China’s development in materials joining. It has achieved a series of landmark scientific and technological accomplishments, providing core welding technologies and equipment for major national projects including crewed spaceflight, domestic aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines, large aircraft, aero-engines, superconducting accelerators, third-generation nuclear power, rail transit, and integrated circuits. The laboratory has become a leading center for scientific innovation and a base for cultivating top-tier innovative talent in China’s materials welding and joining discipline.
