HedraCAM Empowers AVIC Xifei Lean Manufacturing Center Complex Wing Panel Shot Peening Forming

Graceful in shape, agile in posture, with streamlined curves... "Wow, so beautiful!" When the AG600 aircraft panel shot peening was completed and the panel shape, contour, and other technical conditions all met design requirements, everyone couldn't help but express such admiration. At this moment, every member of the Complex Airfoil Panel Shot Peening Technology Task Force at AVIC Xi'an Aircraft Industry Group's Lean Machining Center, who had been tackling this challenge for a year, wore bright smiles on their faces. At that moment, they forgot their exhaustion and hardship, feeling only the joy of achievement.

Since officially launching the research design in March 2020, the task force never complained of hardship or fatigue. They pooled team strength, united internal and external resources, continuously explored and collaborated to optimize the AG600 aircraft from a conventional airfoil to a complex airfoil that better serves China's emergency rescue system and national disaster prevention and control system. The shot peening process team, mainly composed of post-90s generation members, bore tremendous pressure — from part geometry analysis, tooling design and manufacturing, to finite element simulation and panel extension prediction — every step and every detail was meticulously and tirelessly addressed as they tackled emerging problems.

After the panels arrived at the shot peening site, process engineers first used the specialized shot peening offline programming software provided by Nanjing Trustrobot Software to perform offline programming for the 5-axis shot peening machine. After outputting the programs, they immediately organized production follow-up, from basic parts to typical parts, and finally to complete assemblies. The engineers closely monitored every step of the testing process to ensure smooth progress, and their tireless working figures could always be seen on the production floor. The days of collective effort were hard, but what showed on their faces was only enthusiasm and drive; their bloodshot eyes revealed responsibility and commitment.
