Located in Zhuzhou, China Aviation Development Southern Industry Co., Ltd. (Factory 331) was founded in 1951. It was one of the 156 key construction projects during China's First Five-Year Plan, one of the first 57 enterprise groups in the national pilot program, and one of China's early six major aviation enterprises. In August 1954, the company developed New China's first aircraft engine, for which Chairman Mao personally signed a commendation letter. Since then, the company has successively developed China's first heavy motorcycle engine, first ground gas turbine, first turboprop engine, and other products, filling more than 10 domestic product gaps.
